Frenemies

"Frenemies"
You remember the old saying: "with a friend like that, who needs an enemy?" I'm sure it's because I reside in the Triangle area of NC, where "former right-hand man" of former senator John Edwards lives, I cannot escape the constant media reports of Rielle Hunter's private tapes and Andrew Young's testimony. Maybe it's just me, but I'm sick and tired of hearing about the whole tawdry mess. Yes, I get it: John Edwards lied, and committed adultery, all while running for the highest office of the land. I even understand Young's reasoning for making certain that he had certain items as proof of the affair--within reason. BUT, at some point, the tape recordings, the showing of the sex tape(s)and so on, becomes over-the-top. And the explanation of being "afraid of John Edwards' powerful friends" becomes a tired excuse. Hunter sued Andrew Young and his wife in civil court to make certain that she obtained ALL photos and videotapes. The judge threatened to hold both Young and his wife in contempt of court--and they barely escaped a prison cell. But both received a stern warning from the judge about the discrepancies in their testimonies, and were warned that IF it became known that they had lied to the court, the judge would exercise his duty to sentence them to jail. What I do know is, is that my grandmother's warning about a "bosom friend" has never been clearer. Be ever so careful who you give the title of "friend" to, not everyone deserves the honor.
